Furniture Care

We use natural hardwoods in all that we make, in Walnut or White Oak species.  When using natural wood, every single piece is unique, individual and special.  You will see grain variations with every cut, so even on one piece, you can see how the wood grows in different ways.  This is what makes your furniture unique to you, one of a kind.  

In order to keep the wood looking good for years to come, the care is not difficult.  We coat every item with a 2-component acrylic urethane coating that will protect the surface as you use it.  Even though this is a great barrier, you still need to care for it.  You can wipe your piece with a very light damp cloth to remove dust, crumbs and most common dining spills. Light soap and water may be needed for heavier spills/messes, again applied with a damp cloth.  Common cleaning solutions contain alcohol or ammonia base, which over time can eat through the finish. You can use natural based cleaning products or furniture polish but please know that this may change the look of the sheen slightly on the wood.  We recommend only using this on occasion, or if you notice slight marks on the wood, to smooth it out.  Although this product has excellent water resistance, never leave a wet glass or direct water saturation on your wood surface for an extended period of time, it could absorb into the grain and cause a mark that may not go away.  Remember, wood is a porous organism and you don’t want to feed it!  

If you get a light scratch on your furniture, you can try to use a non-abrasive natural cleaning polish with a dry cloth to rub it out gently.  The oils in the polish will help conceal the mark, in most cases.  If the scratch is deep, remember, it may not come out and that is the natural beauty of a lived-in and dined-on piece of furniture, so don’t fret!  

One other great thing about our furniture is that the finish has UV protection on it, to help lessen the fading or color changing of the wood if it is in direct sunlight.  The products are all made for indoor use only, however this added benefit is great to have as additional protection.
